Pirate Software’s Next Title Revealed — A Multiplayer Heist Sim

Thor / Pirate Software’s much-anticipated next title is officially a four-player co-op heist sim with branching narrative — and the team confirmed Heartbound 2 is also in development.

The heist sim, codenamed Project Dredger, is built around procedural job generation across four mechanically distinct heist types: stealth infiltration, social-engineering long-cons, hard-extraction firefights, and pure exfiltration runs. Each heist supports asymmetric roles, and a single mission can be replayed with different role assignments to unlock different narrative beats.

The studio confirmed Project Dredger ships in early access in late 2026, with the eventual full launch targeting 2027. Heartbound 2 — Thor’s narrative-RPG sequel that has been teased for years — is also confirmed in development with a separate team, but no specific window beyond ‘after Project Dredger.’
