Borderlands 4 Development Update — Gearbox Confirms 2026 Window
Gearbox’s investor presentation slide deck quietly confirmed Borderlands 4 for a Q4 2026 PC launch — earlier than most coverage projected.
The deck named four new vault hunters, a new planet that is structurally different from prior Borderlands settings (open-world traversal, dynamic weather, factional control of regions), and a confirmed Unreal Engine 5 build. Crucially, Randy Pitchford’s confirmation that Borderlands 4 will not feature any of the failed Borderlands movie’s cast is also being read as a course-correction signal.
For PC players, the headline confirmation is parallel-launch parity: PC, PS5 and Xbox launch the same week, with no cross-platform exclusivity windows. Day-one Steam Deck verification is also a stated target — a meaningful change from Borderlands 3’s awkward Deck compatibility story.
Q4 2026 is aggressive, but Gearbox needs a hit. Day-one Deck verified is the underrated detail.
